Original Gebirgsjaeger Officer Schirmmutze Visor Hat

Description

Constructed of a high quality field-grey tricut wool, this privately purchased visor features a single piece "saddled" crown encircled by hellgrun waffenfarbe piping. To the peak of the saddle, there is a silver washed stamped aluminum national eagle clutching an oak-leaf wreath. Below is a multi-piece body stitched to a blueish green cloth band encircled top and bottom by additional hellgrun waffenfarbe. To the centre of the the band is a silver washed, boullion oak-leaf  wreath surrounding a tri-colour colour boullion cockade.  The band is flanked by two small silver washed pebbled buttons that secure the silver ribbed chin cord. Extending from the band is a black vulcanfibre visor with raised lip in showing minimal wear.
To the interior, the cap is lined in golden yellow rayon. A celluloid sweat shield features the Carl Berg of Berlin NW 21 maker markings. The sweatband is in great condition.   Despite some minor moth nips and wear pictured, the cap remains in excellent condition and displays a level of period light wear that adds an element of character rarely found.  Perfect for presentation purposes.
